Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Who needs MongoDB when you have JSONB?
2·2 months agoNo, you misunderstand. Sqlite just does not work when it’s packaged by Godot mono for mobile (see the ticket in the other replies)
It worked fine on desktop which made it more frustrating

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Who needs MongoDB when you have JSONB?
61·2 months agoHad to roll my own JSON storage system after spending weeks trying to get sqlite to work on Godot/android.
It took a day and will suck at scale because there are no indexes. It just goes through the whole file, line by line when you search for an id.
BUT IT WORKS.
Hopefully the repos and stuff I piled on top have made it abstract able enough I can move it to a real database if the issue ever gets resolved.

Technology@lemmy.world•New report blames Phison's pre-release firmware for SSD failures — not Microsoft’s August patch for WindowsEnglish
2814·2 months agoThe takeaway: Microsoft forced pre-release firmware onto millions of computers.
They’re lucky only a small percentage were damaged tbf.
Edit: on re-readinf I may have parsed this incorrectly
pre-release engineering firmware on certain SSDs, which may have been triggered by the Windows 11 updates.
It may be more like “for some reason some drives have pre-release software and the update… interacts badly with it?”

Looks like I have to decide what to do soon because they’re still on W10.

11·3 months agoThe git site has instructions on how to create your own git server in 30 mins.
It’s very easy once you know it’s literally just an SSH account. For personal projects or small teams is absolutely fine.
For open source there are lots of GitHub alternatives

Yeah, it’s a shame to get rid of it, I’m usually happy to let it go crazy for a few months so the bees and birds have their way. But I learned about bramble growth the hard way. Didn’t know they were vibes or they spread from the tips. Thought I could just chip the main stem and it wouldn’t be a big deal. But it’s had 2 summers now and when I cut the grass (or tried to) surprise!
The floor is bramble vines too. Like something out of a horror film, just kept pulling them up, ruined 2 pairs of gloves and 2 sets of secateurs , it’s only a tiny garden! (And the first sets were never up to the task)
Luckily I have some other bushes and ferns for stuff to live in but I just don’t have time to stay on top of the mechanical side to control it.
Cheaper than buying my third set of secateurs, I’ll give it a go, thanks!

Is that a plasmid or ring of flagella on the last guy?
