Original $500B mineral deal was crazy for Ukraine. AFAIK, the deal that was planned to sign was a “mere framework” where future US money would be negotiated to be repaid within the framework. The deal to be signed was a fairly empty one.

The substantive parts of the outburst was “Zelensky doesn’t even want a ceasefire, and has hatred for Russia”, and so however empty the mineral deal was in Ukrainian commitments, it was still a ploy to keep the flow of weapons for purposes of extending the timeline of Ukrainian losses. Europe is still envisioning using Ukraine as a terrorism proxy on Russia after any “lasting peace”, which Zelensky committed to by tweet after the meeting. Ukraine needs to “relegalize” parties that included Yanukovych, and have elections that include those parties with the option of Ukraine neutrality that Russia demands. That is the “lasting peace option”

It is simply playing into US empire hands to discard the most humanist antiwar position, since JFK, in the history of US empire, as a negative despite coming from a fascist, as an excuse to seek further submission to US weapons sales to go it alone on a demonic war against Russia.
