my tactic if the site looks trustworthy is always:

• find the explanation for the distribution I use
• ignore literally all the text
• just copy paste and execute everything that looks like a command in order in the terminal works like 8/10 times

i only use Reddit for technical questions on communities that don’t exist on Lemmy or are inactive. I’m not using Reddit anymore for browsing but I’m not gonna artificially limit myself from that great resource for some performative activism

I believe you are probably right. the problem is that capitalists only focus is profit. so if their profit is limited by this hypothetical non-corrupt government they will try their absolute best to make sure they get their way in the government, and since they have a lot of money they also have the power to do that.
