Yeah, I’d disable that if I could. I’d much rather have no thumbnail than an animated one.
Negative. I am a meat popsicle.

Fuck them for these games. It’s an abuse of their market position.
Does Google offer a phone number for me to contact them about problems with their half-assed products? I’ve tried lots of times to reach a human being, but never raised a response as a private citizen.
That’s not what I consider negligible on my phone, which is already resource constrained. Yes, I have a problem with an app that intentionally wastes my valuable resources. I wouldn’t care so much from my desktop, but I mostly just use a desktop client to do things I can’t easily do on my mobile clients.
No big deal. It’s not as if my participation is especially valuable. I would just participate less.
edit: my objection is obviously more in principal than it is practical, but it would hardly be the first time I walked away from software (or a network) on philosophical grounds.
And use copper pot still with silver solder.
Never heard of, eg, Vioxx or thalidomide, I take it?
That’s a hard NO from me, dawg. If Lemmy goes down that path, I will just not comment. My account settings let me just block bots. I dont need my resources wasted so I can interact with the “good bots”.
I make my own with a 1:1 mix of potassium chloride and sodium chloride. Throw in a dash of lime (I use a powder so i can premix.) I just add dash to my water when I need electrolytes.
What is it with people who think everything they don’t like should be illegal? Have you never read a history book? Authoritarianism is bad mmkay
That’s to be expected. It’s probably an oldish image. Libgen (and Anna’s Archive, et al) have periodically drawn attention from prosecutors, not unlike other so-called “piracy” sites. I wish I had enough storage and upstream to seed their torrents. In particular, Anna’s Archive has ebooks of old books I’ve never been able to find elsewhere, regardless of price. I wish libgen had been around when I was in college.
Yeah, that’s not especially enormous compared to startups in the valley offering huge equity alongside already generous compensation packages.
Which is ironic considering the source.
So almost exactly the same rule as ice hockey.

I guess it really is an unpopular opion. Lol. I have have eye fatigue issues with HDR too, though.
I also can’t watch 3D for more than 5 minutes without getting a migraine. I don’t know enough about how the display works to know why. Both feel like it is trying to fool my eyes and my brain doesn’t like it. Maybe my eyes/brain get fatigued trying to play along. Some types of HDR seem to bother me more than others. I can watch an HDR movie mostly fine.
The other day at a family gathering, I found myself explaining CRISPR in tones normally reserved for religious fervor.
Excuse me. Do you have time to hear about the good word of our Lady and Savior, Jennifer Doudna?
That’s actually the first time I’ve seen Dr Dog referenced in the wild (outside of Pat Finnerty’s channel.)
If you walk without rhythm, you won’t attract the worm.
No. Think about it. Where is all the video from those cameras going? It is digital video, which the homeowner probably wants to record and playback… Many home security setups, particularly those that don’t rely on a cloud service, are basically a DVR back end with a security focused UI.
A geo professor once took us on a road trip as a “lab”, without telling us where we were going. I actually was driving the school van, so that motherfucker had me driving for nearly 10 hours with stops at all the very best road cuts in the Midwest (one would hope.)
I am sure I would have liked it somewhat more if I weren’t the one driving.
I believe that is patented
