necessity is the mother, laziness is the father.
I am Glitch Daracova, the breachforged cyberdragon, an immortal god to which age has no meaning. Fear me and despair. If you’re lost, consult my lore (hyperlink missing). My pronouns are Maj/Majs—short for ‘majestic,’ regal and divine, as in “Maj rules majs kingdom.”
necessity is the mother, laziness is the father.
If I find any degree of success, then absolutely I will hire real humans to help me with my vision.
sadly, I have a moral compass. I’m not sure where I put the damn thing, but I have one.
that sounds fuckin’ nice.
I’ve been begging for such buttons since fucking 2009, and everyone laughed at me for wanting customizable controls.
Look who’s laughing now. (it’s me, with my mouse and keyboard and lack of friends and I never need to touch a controller again!)
I envy your guts. I wish mine were as good as yours.
I did not come to sit and wonder
I have come to SHIT LIKE THUNDER!
I used to love steam link, I bought one and loved it so I bought another one for a firend.
Somewhere along the way Valve changed how it worked. I was no longer able to play my games. I was exclusively playing non-steam games through my steam link, btw. I think it had to do with how steam interpreted inputs from a controller while steam thought you weren’t in a game.
I still have it, although I no longer have a tv so resolving my problems with steam link won’t do any good.
They’re not comfortable, they’re fashionable. You pay extra to be hip with it.
I read a few months ago about a US senator who was new to the position, formerly lived in less than ideal circumstances, made the news for becoming a senator while not being born into wealth. Anyway, they were surprised at the options they had for medical insurance, and how affordable they were, and how much they covered, and in general how much better these options were. Before becoming a senator, the same medical coverage would have cost an order of magnitude or two more.
Anyway, fuck the rich, then eat them.
I have a wooden dining table chair. It swivels, there is no cushion at all. Every time I think about replacing it, I look at what a gaming good gaming chair costs and I say “nah, I’m good”.
I need to take a shit and I’m sad I can’t take my game with me (I don’t have a steam deck).
actually this (yes, I’m replying to myself). I’m an idiot with no marketable skills. I put boxes on shelves for a living. I want to be an artist, a musician, a programmer, an author. I am so bad at all of these, and between having a full time job, a significant other, and several neglected hobbies, I don’t have time to learn to get better at something I suck at. So I cheat. If I want art done, I could commission a real artist, or for the cost of one image I could pay for dalle and have as many images as I want (sure, none of them will be quite what I want but they’ll all be at least good). I could hire a programmer, or I could have chatgpt whip up a script for me since I’m already paying for it anyway since I want access to dalle for my art stuff. Since I have chatgpt anyway, I might as well use it to help flesh out my lore for the book I’ll never write. I haven’t found a good solution for music.
I have in my brain a vision for a thing that is so fucking cool (to me), and nobody else can see it. I need to get it out of my brain, and the only way to do that is to actualize it into reality. I don’t have the skills necessary to do it myself, and I don’t have the money to convince anyone else to help me do it. generative AI is the only way I’m going to be able to make this work. Sure, I wish that the creators of the content that were stolen from to train the ai’s were fairly compensated. I’d be ok with my chatgpt subscription cost going up a few dollars if that meant real living artists got paid, I’m poor but I’m not broke.
These are the opinions of an idiot with no marketable skills.
because idiots like me who have no marketable skills can use it to fool ourselves into thinking we can do code/art/literature/etc.
i use obsidian notes and keep the files in a Dropbox folder that automatically syncs between my several devices. I use github pages to make it publicly visible. Since it’s on github, I’ve got all the benefits of version control and edit tracking. Also, other authors can use whatever markdown editor they want so long as they don’t break link formatting.
The article you linked is much more detailed than the one I read, so this interaction has benefited both of us.
luddites weren’t anti technology, they were pro workers rights. they would find gpt style ai offensive.
BEHOLD! PLATO’S MAN!
Especially when the cheap or free service is better than the expensive service.
I made the jump to Linux a few months ago, and while there are certain conveniences that I miss, everything I actually need works fine. As for gaming, I don’t play anything with kernel level anticheat, so it doesn’t matter to me that those don’t work on linux.
