Idk if it would work the same way but when this happened in BC many years ago and the gov tried to impose penalties on the teacher’s union, the union took them to court and won all of that money back.

Mine does, and I still think fuck them.

Jesus Christ I had to look it up. I’d be fucking miserable too if I grew up with a name like that.

Honestly McPherson is probably the one I like least, but they all seem pretty decent. I agree the idea of left solidarity is important and am well aware of the damage that infighting has done to our causes, but I really don’t think that another moderate is what Canada needs right now. The Cons are running further right, the Liberals are chasing them. We can’t afford to abandon leftists in this country like America abandoned theirs.
Nah, while I agree the book ending was great in its own right, the movie would not have succeeded without the ending they gave it. It would’ve felt anti-climactic and probably a little boring tbh. The movie was for entertainment, the book was for thought.
Thanks. I wasn’t paying close enough attention when all of that with Appadurai happened, but I’m much more attentive now. That’s a good recap.
I know that the fed NDP and the BCNDP are not the same party, but seeing the betrayal union workers are facing in BC under an NDP government is really shaking any sort of hope I’ve had for a party that truly gives any fucks about the people. I’ll continue to support federally but just feel so hesitant and pessimistic about it all.

Same with the Pattison Group (Save-On) out West. Jimmy fuckin Pattison owns just about everything here.

If you are not part of the 1% and you are against worker’s rights, then you’re just a fucking moron. Fuck anyone who is against unions, I’m tired of these goddamn people.
Support workers. Eat the rich.

Its not really sneaky in a bad way though. When I was earning below living I always made a good amount with my tax refunds, so I think it’ll likely mean a lot of people getting extra money that wouldn’t have otherwise had it. Finally getting money to people that need it most doesn’t sound sneaky to me.

Keep your goddamn hands off my post office. This is a fundamental human necessity, stop trying to fucking profit from it. I am so sick of humans doing capitalism.

I always thought the idea was to shower after the bath. I don’t like them either way but that is a personal decision and I do not have any real arguments against them.

Just a PSA, you can still get measles even if you’re vaccinated. It is rare, but it is possible. Lets not jump to conclusions on the mom here. (Though I agree with the rest of your comment)

So this whole case is actually exactly about those Canadian laws, as defined in the Charter of Rights as the right to freedom speech and the right to freedom of assembly. The British Columbia Civil Liberties association is arguing that Charter rights should not be infringed upon just because they were expressed on a college campus (private property).
The BCCLA’s legal argument here
Another explanation from VIU faculty themselves : “These suspensions violate President Saucier’s public statement from 31 May 2024: “Let me state that clearly: members of our community will not be punished for participating in the encampment.””
If we were to say that freedom of speech is not allowed just because you’re on private property, we’re setting a very dangerous precedent. I do think that the freedom of assembly one is a bit harder to argue because of trespassing laws, but they are then policing why students assemble on the campus (where they normally would’ve been allowed to be), which crosses back onto freedom of speech.

Yeah I have family down there, one who is Mexican and on a working visa so what I would consider to be high risk, and they’ve been travelling quite frequently to and from Mexico since last November. They live in Chicago and said they feel safe doing this.
So yes, I think the news we hear is a lot but for many people it’s still business as usual. Like, you said, I sure as fuck wouldn’t go down there, but the majority of people travelling through are still doing so safely.

The end goal seems to be literally just a return to the “peaceful” apartheid state, except now with an even more weakened population that is less able (and likely more terrified) to fight back. The person quoted in that article is correct: “In fact, this is not a peace plan. It’s a surrender plan. It returns us to times of colonialism.”
I don’t believe for a second that Carney gives a fuck about Palestinians or Palestinian statehood. He just wants us to leave him alone about it so he can pretend he (and orange fuck) have done their due diligence.

The picture’s not terribly Instagram worthy, but it looks like a really cool trip and I’d love to do that.

No, obviously the only way to protect children from falling to the trans agenda is to starve them so they don’t have time to think about their identities.
Ah okay, I did not know that. Thanks for the correction. That’s really shitty.
