I have achieved that, when I was younger and skinnier, and it’s not even all that great. For one, yeah, kills your back. Two, it’s more like sucking dick than getting your dick sucked, so let’s hope you’re good at that – and if you are, you’re going to end up with a mouth full of cum.

Now, I’m gay, so these last two points didn’t bother me any, but I was so sore from the experience I did it like twice and then never bothered again. I imagine a straight guy would be even less impressed.

  • honestly, Timeshift + btrfs was a big part of the reason I was willing to try switching to Mint from Windows in February when I read about it (the other big part being Proton and my experience with my Steam Deck), and I’ve been rather happy with it since. I still dual boot for the odd thing, but 90% of the time I’m in Linux and it just works; and on the single occasion I’ve had an update bork something, I just used Timeshift to restore a snapshot, tried updating again, and it worked fine the second time. Took me 10 minutes. I remember the heady days of the early 2010s when I first tried Linux, and that would’ve normally kicked off an entire evening’s worth of troubleshooting. (And, indeed, it was shit like that that pushed me back to Windows whenever I’d try Linux)

I’m really hoping more semi-computer-literate people start taking the plunge, it isn’t nearly so awful an adjustment to make as it was just ten years ago and Microsoft clearly needs the competition to encourage them to make not-shit products. I still wouldn’t give a Linux machine to your grandmother, but your average technically competent nerd who can use Google can actually use Mint nowadays without having to fuck with it too much; as opposed to having to almost become an expert on Linux and get up into its guts to make it work right for you (which, Windows is increasingly requiring itself, if you don’t want Microsoft knowing everything you do and serving you ads in your OS), and Timeshift is a big part of why, IMO. It’s not quite there to “perfectly suited for general use by your average idiot”, plenty of programs that don’t yet play nice with it; but it’s so much closer to that ideal now than it’s ever been before, and it’s still getting better.

I know, wrong community, y’all like to get up into its guts, poke around and tinker; but I and many others would rather work on our computers, as opposed to work on our computers, if you get my meaning.

they can’t prove that it didn’t just fall off when you tried driving away if they never find the pieces. You have to prove criminal liability in court, you aren’t responsible if the city uses “shitty parking boots” or “poorly trained officers”, and they can’t prove that isn’t what happened if they don’t find the cut up pieces lying by the side of the road.

in other words, the age old rule applies: only stupid criminals get caught.

“your property was no longer in my possession, and my car was no longer in your way. If you’re saying I can bolt shit to your car if you park on my property and then sue you for damage when it flies off your car, I will keep this in mind when you come to serve me the summons.”

you’ll find that many people will decide you are not worth the effort to deal with.

You must not be familiar with how fast a good angle grinder would make quick work of that thing. Just looking at it, I would guess 10 seconds if I was being extra generous. If I really wanted to get away with it, I’d toss on a fresh disc and ruin it as fast as I could by getting it off in record timing.

But I like yer moxie, super chief. 👈😎👈

Depends on how new and fancy your truck is and whether you find yourself needing one. I know if you go back far enough they don’t have them, so I imagine at some point they became an option and perhaps more recently they became standard. I’ve never needed a truck myself (having a buddy with a truck is often enough for the odd job) so I’m not sure.

Unless they can’t prove you were the one who damaged it, or even that there was damage. “Well, shucks, officer, I just tried to drive away with it on and it just sort of fell off. Dunno what happened to it after that, not my problem. You should invest in better boots, or maybe train the guy who put it on better.” (Bonus points if he’s the one who put it on.) Meanwhile, you take the pieces with you, grind off any serial numbers, and drop them in the nearest large body of water whenever is convenient. Bob’s your auntie.

edit: rofl @ all the people below trying to white knight for fucking meter maids.

The best part is, the sort of person that drives a Cybertruck is absolutely not the sort of truck (“truck”) owner that keeps an inverter and power tools in the bed, because anyone with an angle grinder would have a hearty chuckle at that before driving home.
