  • Smith noted her government had signed an agreement with Ottawa worth $24 billion over 10 years to uphold the principles of the Canada Health Act. “That means that you cannot charge to access insured services. If that’s what [Marda Loop is] doing, they will be shut down, they will be fined, [or] we will withhold payments to them. So it won’t be allowed to happen,” Smith said.

Weird. This seems like a normal thing for a normal premier to say. Not what I expected from her when this story broke.

  • To follow Portugal’s example Canada needs to decriminalize personal possession of illicit substances across the country, offer safe supply and treatment on demand and focus on recovery, prevention and education, Johns says,

Seems logical. That’s what research shows works to keep people alive and give them a chance to recover

adding this was all outlined in his defeated private member’s bill.

Ah. Politically too scary. Gives the opposition ammo that you’re coddling those dirty junkies and who cares if they die anyway, it’s called personal responsibility, ever heard of it.

  • So it looks like he’s a pretty badass undercover/financial guy, opened up shop in Hong Kong, and then

Majcher indicated that the Chinese government is one of his “major clients” and he was working to help recover $1.2 trillion US in funds acquired through fraud.

China has this problem of rich people/corrupt officials ignoring its currency export regulations and taking ill-gotten gains overseas including Canada.

So I guess Majcher’s victims aren’t exactly squeaky clean and innocent… But this case is a good illustration of one of the tools the Party has for operating abroad (particularly in the current context where foreign interference in elections is getting a lot of attention).
