Second shift, 4am.
Not only does that not have anything to do with the topic at hand, but I’m also much more worried about the very real hostile take over of a nation than some people’s fucking street lights.
YouTube makes 8 billion per quarter selling ads. I think they will be able to eat tonight.
Lemmy is my only online presence. I use…
My phone.
Someone mentioned antifa at work the other day, and I said, “Antifa? I’m in. Shitting on fascists has been an American pass time for a century or better.”
The looks of shock and horror on my coworkers faces was quite the sight to behold.
This is why I chose Mazda. No touch screen at all, just a display for Android auto.
For anyone who needs a reminder, his name is not Ted. We should honor his wishes and stop calling him by his preferred name.
Sure, but at the end of the day, does it really matter? It’s like made up numbers that never run out. He’s still set for life, no real consequence. He feels this less than someone who misses a car payment one month.
What is the answer to life, the universe, and everything?
Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original. SAMCRO.
The only thing that I can tell happens every update is that I have to tell my start bar, yet again, to show all program icons instead of hiding them. Individually. Oh, and Skype occasionally decides it’s important at startup again.
Almost forgot! My computer also randomly forgets how to sleep until updated.
I almost forgot about Fear Factory. Thanks for giving me something to jam to all weekend again!
Right on.
Actually, yes…when you leave a lot with what you bought, you did, indeed, pay for it.
Their shitty business practices to exploit consumers are designed to favor their decisions as a net gain. And usually, it is a safe bet. An easy win. Hell, even in this case it still will be. Last I checked, they were turning a profit.
When the consumer finds a win, it’s not “getting something for free.”. It’s a small victory for the consumer on a bad business decision by the company. The companies sure use a lot more loopholes than the consumer to squeeze a buck out of everyone. They assumed they would make money giving things away as a deceptive practice. Most times they win. This time, it didn’t work out for them. Oh well. Free market and all. I’ll not be losing any sleep over it tonight.
Yeah, I remember all of that. It usually went hand in hand with sites I shouldn’t have been on lol. But who knows, you’re probably right. It’s been a lot of years.
The lack of ads. Were there ads? Of course there were. A reasonable amount with reasonable placement. Websites still functioned as intended without content being progressively more blocked on your screen, and they rarely required interaction to deal with them. Nowadays, if you can get a site that’s not paywalled, the text field is so small you can only see a sentence or two between the bullshit.
Normally, I would agree with you. But, I would like to offer a different point of view simply because this is a platform on the internet where the vast majority of the users seem to be from the US.
On a project like r/place, I kind of see that as a showing of people saying hey, we use this site, we are here everyday, there’s lots of us, and we’re from this country!

I’m gonna take this opportunity to plug the nuknives u23. As a lefty, finding a utility blade knife that is lefty friendly is near impossible. This thing fits the bill with flying colors. Bonus: They sell tons of replacement parts, should you damage it. If you have a job that’s hard on knives, this is the one for you.
