Here’s the thing. The way the American highway system works is it goes from city to city. And millions of people in the northern cities voted against him. We don’t need to shut down the roads in the rural red areas. His Canadian state idea also wasn’t a part of his campaign and many Americans still think it’s nothing more than him being his normal blathering self. So we aren’t seeing true opposition get captured in polling yet.

I agree that he’s dangerous. And I don’t know what we could do to stop him but I am absolutely sure the military would suffer high rates of desertion compared to orders to invade Panama, Mexico, or Venezuela. I am also sure that Congress would not use the war powers act to stop him in any invasion, nor would he listen to them if they did. So whatever has to happen is up to the people, and there are at least 80 million pissed off Americans right now. You’re right that I can’t guarantee anything on their behalf. I can only offer an inside perspective and my apologies.

He’s so far outside the box predictions don’t work anymore. But food for thought; Americans associate drugs with Mexico far more than any other country. So this would be one hell of a head whip for the general public. Americans also still consider Canada one of our closest friends on the global stage. Many families in the North span the border. For that fact alone there’s a very good chance that if he attacks Canada we’d shut this country down with protests and strikes.

On a rational predictable level he’s already declared cartels to be terrorists and Venezuela to be a terrorist state. This is very likely another tool to pressure the Mexican government.

That said, I wouldn’t trust us right now. We’re like that friend who took too much cocaine and is hiding in the closet with a gun. Unpredictable and dangerous.

It doesn’t have a kill switch. It’s a computer program that helps the radar and stuff. Right now everyone’s program goes to the US for QA before they fly with it. It’s purely by agreement, countries are absolutely physically capable of doing this on their own.

They’re all state actors these days because all the ones that didn’t hook up with a country for protection either got their doors kicked in at 3 in the morning; or they kept to small enough operations to not be a real bother. I guess one of them could have forgotten the 2010’s, but I doubt it. They tend to be smarter than other criminals.

Best case? Some grey hat found a hole in security for Internet connected cameras and is just having fun. Worst case? Training runs by a state actor.

That was the F-22 and it was over a decade ago. The problem has since been fixed.

I haven’t seen that. I’ve only seen blogs saying stuff. And if you have the literal hardware in your hands then changing the software isn’t going to be hard as a country.

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the President has a 30 day authority to use the military anywhere in the world. After 30 days he needs congressional authority. He can get a second 30 days while that’s going on and if Congress says no then he has to remove all troops within a final 30 day period.

If Congress never says anything then he effectively has a blank check.

Your best bet would actually be to run TV Ads trying to get the military to refuse the order. I think a large percentage actually would. I also think he’s going to invade Mexico first and if he does invade Canada he’ll do it like the Russians did Ukraine. (They told their troops it was a training mission and then only told them at the border that it was real)

There’s nothing stopping Canada from getting the manuals and patching the software. Most of the FUD about it’s performance abilities is propaganda. So getting them and just locking out Lockheed and the US would be a pretty good middle finger too.

He gets to claim he can ignore them. Laws take time to be enforced. Whether he can ignore them or not is up to a bunch of stuff, the courts, congress, the leaders around him, etc. We’re just now starting to come into any kind of possibility for real pushback with SCOTUS ruling some USAID payments still have to be made.
