  • Could be a dead CMOS battery, but if the computer had a case switch more likely it was a security feature that lets you know the case was opened. On Acer computers you would have to press F1 to continue the boot, or Del key to enter the BIOS and have the chance to change the setting. Incidentally the setting is usually under the Security tab> Open Chassis. You can reset the notification or turn it off.

    I run into this situation on office computers all the time, because no one knows how to turn it off or reset it.


  • As a previous paramedic, this is not a new problem. I’m sure it’s gotten worse in the last couple years though. Also this is a problem across Canada, not just in Ontario. I travelled between the two provinces often and spent more than a few hours standing in ER back hallways. I believe it stems from not having enough staff in hospitals to handle the intake of patients. The ICU’s and floors get backed up, the ER then gets backed up and anyone coming in with an ambulance and able too, will wait in a hallway with the crew, because the hospital is not ready or willing to take medical care of that patient.
