Privacy@lemmy.ml•Something odd happened on Reddit today..
35·16 days agoIf you read any of those comments in what you yourself linked, you’d see that a whole bunch of them are referencing and talking about OP’s profile no longer there. So obviously, due to technical issues or other means, the OP of that post was not there for some time period and it has since been restored. “Slam dunk”

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Printers leave a watermark on each page indicating the exact printer that it came from. Are there any other examples of these privacy violations that aren't common knowledge?
22·19 days agoMost places don’t do cash back, and the ones that do tend to have a limit of like $40. Wal Mart is a bit of an exception, as they’ll do $100, but you aren’t getting a $100 bill from them through their self checkout. You’ll only get 20’s.
So if you go to Wal Mart, and you go to one of the few real people to check you out, and you ask for it back in a $100 bill, and the teller happens to have gotten a $100 in since they had started that day, and the front lead hadn’t already cashed out the register since they received that $100 bill, then yes. In that case you’ll get a $100 bill and will slightly fuzz up the tracking metrics they could theoretically do.

But seriously though. A lot of ATM’s will do 100’s, anymore.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why are todays pc and mobile games so bad?
1·28 days agoBalatro? Merge Maestro? Shattered Pixel Dungeon? The port of Star dew Valley? Into the Breach? Pocket City 2? Crashlands 2?
Maybe try a little harder to look. There’s a lot of great games out there if you try to skip out of games loaded with micro transactions. Merge Maestro is just $2
Been using windscribe for 2 years now. Big fan so far. Haven’t had any issues and it’s nice that I can set it up on my android phone to block access to everything on there if by off chance it were to crash or go down.
Or just not have bullshit age verification to begin with. 98% of anything I do online shouldn’t need proof of who I am. Right down to my email provider.

Technology@lemmy.world•Cracker Barrel Outrage Was Almost Certainly Driven by Bots, Researchers SayEnglish
27·1 month agoHere, Gizmodo. Let me fix that title for you.
“Almost half the upset tweets on the most bottidden platform (twitter) about Cracker Barrel were likely from bots.”
Realistically, the upset was probably more about how the new logo came on all of a sudden, was very plain, and like how coca cola found out with new coke in the 1980s, it’s not necessarily that people love cracker barrel. It’s a part of their nostalgia they grew up with. They went with Grandma and Grandpa growing up. It was a special little stop on a family vacation to eat. They liked looking at the toys and candy in the gift shop and it was so weird and cool they had a store in the restaurant. It can be a company nightmare to screw with a logo that’s been around for decades that could have memories attached to it.
Especially the new one is pretty lame.
I don’t know his real name but the guy from shameless who is now the cook (as pictured) in his newer show has some guns on him.
Nintendo was overblown? The switch launch units had a very large rate of drift issues within the first year. I’d call it fair to say that most of the launch version had drift issues. Most Nintendo hardware releases have no major flaws while “viewed under the microscope”. I guess the switch 2 has a shitty screen, but it’s not flawed hardware. The screens were made to be shit from the getgo.

1·2 months agoI understand what you’re saying (call it like a 10" 100 pound tungsten ball vs a 5" 50 pound tungsten ball) but your reasoning and logic of being essentially the same are just silly and the math that would dictate when each would land in atmosphere would still line up perfectly (which would be that the heaviest one will hit first). even if it were a 10,000 pound ball and a 5,000 pound ball.
