  • I remember when Microsoft first attempted to prevent the standardisation of Open Document Format (used by LibreOffice and others) and then bullied its way into getting approval for own OOXML standard. Already back then, supporters of FOSS warned that Microsoft would use the overly complicated OOXML to maintain its stranglehold on users of Office-like software.:

Whenever applicable and possible, standards should build upon previous standardisation efforts and not depend on proprietary, vendor-specific technologies. Albeit, MS-OOXML neglects various standards and uses its own vendor-specific formats instead. This puts a substantial burden on all vendors to fully implement MS-OOXML. It seems questionable how any third party could ever implement them equally well, especially when a standard comes with 6000 pages of specifications without serving its minimalistic purpose.

  • How gender dysphoria manifests differs from individual to individual, people experience it in different way, particularly in regards to what someone struggles with: Someone may feel more dysphoric in regards to their face; others in regards to their chest;… And yeah, yearning for different genitals is definitely something that meets the criteria for gender dysphoria.

Does that make you trans, nonbinary, something else? That’s something nobody can tell you, because we do not know how strong your feelings are, how much they define you and what you make out of them. That’s why the trans community usually avoids telling other people if they are trans or not - or deny anyone that label who claims it.

If you wish to be trans nonbinary, then you are. If you think, these terms do not fit you, then you are not.

Personally I struggled with similar feelings when I was younger. Fast forward and I am now fully transitioning, because I realized it was “not just that.” I wanted it all. But that’s my way to deal with my feelings. You may chose whatever path suits you and on that path you can try out what this thing or that and cast them off again if they do not feel right. It’s a journey of self-discovery and - for better or worse - it’s all up to you to discover.

I think I experienced similar feelings which usually appear when I was comparatively “better” than during the times that counted as major depressive episodes, according to the professionals I dealt with.

But honestly the way our psyche deals with depression is highly individual and good, responsible therapists/psychiatrists/neurologists/… consider a variety of symptoms before making a final diagnosis. With the exception of a high risk of suicide which will immediately place the sufferer in the “major depressive disorder” category, because of the immediate danger to their lives.

What I want to say: Probably only an expert will be able to tell you exactly what kind of depression you have/had. And I cannot claim to be one. I am simply someone who suffers from it too and I read up about it.

I am sorry for being the bearer of sad news. Suicidal thoughts are the most easily recognizable of the symptoms. And even if they are less persistent between major depressive episodes, a lot of us are still stuck with depression in one form or another for the rest of our lives.

This is a prime example of why patriarchy is hurting men too, because what this guy is saying boils down to:

    • We can make them work at any hour of the day because who cares if these guys have any life outside work?
    • We don’t have to do any work management, we just call those guys
    • We can send them wherever, whenever
    • We can create a toxic work environment and it’s okay to treat guys like shit
    • And those guys don’t even complain because they need this job so bad
      Isn’t it great?

The statement about “workplace laws” is so telling: Yeah, who cares about treating men with respect and dignity!?
It’s not just about discriminating against women, it’s also about mistreating men. That’s what patriarchy is at its core: Pit men and women against each other and then reap the benefits. It’s a “divide and conquer strategy”.
